Introduction and scope

This policy explains your right to cancel a Course you have purchased from us online, and the circumstances in which we provide refunds. It applies to all Courses purchased through openalliancelearning.com and forms part of our Terms of Sale. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.

2

Your legal right to cancel (14-day cooling-off period)

Because you buy from us online (a "distance" contract), you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The 14 days run from the day your contract is formed (the day we confirm your enrolment).

3

How to cancel

To cancel, tell us clearly within the 14-day period – the simplest way is to email admin@oalhub.co.uk with your name, order details and a statement that you wish to cancel. You may use the wording below:

Sample cancellation notice

"I/We hereby give notice that I/we cancel my/our contract for the following course: [course name], ordered on [date], order reference [reference], in the name of [your name], [your address], [your email]."

We will acknowledge your cancellation by email.

4

Courses that begin during the 14-day period

If you ask us to give you access to your Course during the 14-day cancellation period, the following applies:

Tutor-supported and other services

If you cancel within the 14 days after access has begun, we may deduct a reasonable amount for the part of the service already provided, in proportion to what has been supplied, and refund the balance.

Digital content

Downloadable or streamed materials. Once you begin to access or download this content with your consent and acknowledgement that you will lose the right to cancel, the 14-day right no longer applies to that content.

If you did not ask for immediate access, you are entitled to a full refund if you cancel within the 14 days.

5

Refunds after the 14-day period

Once the 14-day cooling-off period has passed, there is no automatic statutory right to a refund. We may, at our discretion, consider a refund or credit in limited circumstances. Where we agree a discretionary refund, we may take into account the proportion of the Course already accessed and any non-refundable costs we have incurred (such as awarding-body registration).

6

If we cancel or significantly change a Course

If we cancel a Course, or make a significant change to it that you do not accept, we will offer you a suitable alternative where possible or give you a full refund for the part not delivered.

7

Non-refundable items

The following are generally non-refundable once incurred:

  • awarding-body registration or examination fees, once you have been registered with the awarding body; and
  • digital content that you have already downloaded or accessed with your consent (see section 4).

We will always make clear at checkout where a fee is non-refundable.

8

Payment plans

If you are paying by instalments, your 14-day cancellation right still applies as set out above. After the cooling-off period, your obligation to pay any remaining instalments is governed by your Payment Plan Terms. If you cancel within the cooling-off period after starting the Course, any refund will be calculated as in section 4 and set against amounts paid.

9

How we issue refunds

Where a refund is due, we will refund using the same payment method you used to pay, unless you agree otherwise.

Cancellation accepted or refund agreed We confirm we've accepted your cancellation, or agreed your discretionary refund request.
Refund processed within 14 days We process refunds without undue delay and within 14 days of acceptance or agreement.
For cooling-off cancellations with no access requested Refund issued within 14 days of being told you wish to cancel.
10

How to request a refund

To request a refund, email admin@oalhub.co.uk with your name, order reference and the reason for your request. We may ask for supporting information. Please allow a reasonable period for us to review and process your request.

11

Complaints

If you are unhappy with a Course or with how we have handled a refund, please contact us first at admin@oalhub.co.uk so we can try to resolve it.

12

Your statutory rights

This policy does not affect your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if a Course is not as described, not of satisfactory quality, or not carried out with reasonable care and skill.
